     John was born in 1855.¹ He was the son of Robert T. Tompkins and Laura Louisa Jane Brock. He married Carrie Avant, daughter of James Ransome Avant and Crissie C. Cox, on 10 January 1878.²

     John was born circa 1803 at Washington Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of Samuel Tompkins and Polly (--?--). He married Mary (--?--), . John died before 1860 at Covington Co., Alabama.
     
Biography of John W. Tompkins:

John W. Tompkins (1803) is the son of Samuel Tompkins (1765). Our basis for this is as follows:

1. A John W. Tompkins is listed on the 1825 and 1828 Tax Lists of Washington Co, Georgia. This is the time that John W. would have come of age to pay taxes and the same time that Samuel was living in Washington Co. Georgia.

2. John W. Tompkins and family is next found in the 1830 census of Bibb Co. Georgia living near the Samuel Tompkins (1765) family and the William P. Tompkins (1800) family clearly suggesting a relationship.

3. A deed recorded on 5 April 1838 indicates that Samuel Tompkins bought at a Sheriff Sale the property of John W. Tompkins. The property was the North one half of lot no. 228 in the 20th Dist of Stewart Co., Georgia. This is the area were Samuel Tompkins moved to in the early 1830's. Who else but a father would buy the property of a son at a Sheriff's sale. Likely, John W. was not able to pay his taxes.


4. John W. Tompkins and family is next found listed in the 1840 Census of Stewart Co. Georgia living near William P. Tompkins and not too far from Samuel Tompkins thus again suggesting a relationship.

5. John Tompkins, with wife Mary and four children are found in the 1850 Census of Covington Co. Georgia living in the next house to Samuel Tompkins. It is this close proximity to Samuel in the mid 1820's, 1830, 1840 and 1850 that strongly suggest he is a son of Samuel.

6. He could also be a son of Partin as Partin and Samuel lived near each other much of their lives. However, it is clear that Partin was not even married when John W. was born so it does not seem likely that he was Partin's son.

     John was born circa 1858 at Covington Co., Alabama.¹ He was the son of Samuel Watson Tompkins and Sarah J. Turner.

     John was born on 20 January 1888 at Dublin, Laurens Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of Stephen Robert Tompkins and Mary Elizabeth Sanford. He married Renie Elizabeth Currie, , on 10 March 1915 at Dublin, Laurens Co., Georgia.¹ John died on 4 September 1926 at Brunswick, Glynn Co., Georgia, at age 38. His body was buried on 6 September 1926 at Erick, Wheeler Co., Georgia.

     John was born circa 1840 at Washington Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of James M. Tompkins and Eliza Ann King. John died on 30 July 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia.
     
Biography of John Wright Tompkins:

John W. Tompkins enlisted as a private September 1861 in the Confederate Army. Killed at Petersburg, Virginia on 30 July 1864.

     John was born on 20 September 1804 at Washington Co., Georgia.² He was the son of Burrell Tompkins and Rachel (--?--). He married Sarah O'Quinn, , circa 1823 at Georgia.³ John died after 1860 at Muscogee Co., Georgia.

     Joseph was born on 17 January 1919 at Suwannee Co., Florida. He was the son of William Benjamin Tompkins and Olive Civility Parker. He married Myrtice Inez Hadden, daughter of Charles Henry Hadden and Clara Eugene Scott, on 26 October 1935 at Lafayette Co., Florida.² He married Elsie Dathan Qualls, daughter of John Witt Qualls and Elsie Sawyer, in 1946 at Seattle, King Co., Washington. Joseph died on 8 June 1979 at Seattle, King Co., Washington, at age 60.³

     Joseph was born on 27 October 1888 at Suwannee Co., Florida.¹ He was the son of John David Tompkins and Sarah Jane (--?--). He married Annie Roberta McDonald, , on 18 July 1916 at Madison Co., Florida.² Joseph died on 10 June 1934 at Florida at age 45.³ His body was buried in June 1934 at Mt. Olive Cemetery., Madison Co., Florida.²
