Biography of Mary Geiger:

Mary married her cousin Emanuel Henry Martin. They moved down to Ft. McCoy, Florida. They had seven boys and three girls.

She had an exciting experience when they were starting a farm not far from Chief Micanopy's village in Alachua County May 24, 1827.

Her husband was away getting supplies. About dark she was sitting with her baby's head over her shoulder and her negro girl was fanning them when Indians attacked and killed the girl and the baby. Mary escaped to a "treeefall" with her baby. After the Indians left, she made her way to the fort where she waited for her husband. Having lost everything they returned to Georgia.
