     John William Sample was born on 26 April 1863 at Macoupin Co., Illinois. He was the son of George Washington Sample and Lucy Ann Braden. John William Sample married Sevilla Viola Sampson circa 1883 at Missouri. John William Sample died on 14 May 1927 at Plainview, Hale Co., Texas, at age 64. He was buried on 14 May 1927 at Old Plainview Cemetery, Plainview, Hale Co., Texas.
     
Biography of John William Sample:

He is listed in a small ledger that belonged to his nephew, Giles Elmer Bowers, about 1903-1910, now (1999) in the possession of Howard Bowers, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There is a note by Elmer Bowers in this ledger that "we all went to visit Uncle Will Samples"; day was April 10, year was probably 1909. So John William Sample and family probably were living not far from Hardin Thomas and Sarah Ann Sample Bowers farm north of Baxter Springs, Cherokee Co., Kansas. They could have been living nearby or possibly in Jasper Co., Missouri.

     John William Sample was born in 1844 at Illinois. He was the son of Charles Sample and Tirzah Jackson. John William Sample died before 1870 at Morgan Co., Illinois.

     Joseph Sample was born circa 1833 at Morgan Co., Illinois. He was the son of John Sample and Sarah "Sally" Pruitt.

     Juanita Fern Sample was born on 30 June 1930 at Muleshoe, Bailey Co., Texas.² She was the daughter of James Hobson Dewey Sample and Emma Frances Elleanora Vaughan. Juanita Fern Sample died in 1998 at Colorado.²

     Kate Sample was born in 1849. She was the daughter of James Sample and Ellen Tunney.

     Kathryn Elaine Sample was the daughter of Robert Lee Sample and Charlotte Jean Fountain. Kathryn Elaine Sample died on 27 July 1956.

     Leda Sample was born in August 1883. She was the daughter of Samuel Moore Sample Sr. and Lucy (--?--).

     Leroy Sample was born on 25 January 1898 at Macoupin Co., Illinois. He was the son of William Robert Sample and Armilda M. Clevenger. Leroy Sample died on 24 February 1954 at age 56. He was buried at Union Chapel Cemetery, North Otter Twp., Macoupin Co., Illinois.
