     Biography of Reuben Brown Kelley:

Reuben Brown Kelley the adopted son of Daniel Kelly and his wife, Sally Clifton. He is the biological son of John Clifton, brother of Sally Clifton. John Clifton died about 1804, leaving three children: Daniel b. 1795, Reuben Brown b. 1800 and Noah b. 1804, who were adopted by Daniel Kelly and Sally Clifton. Reuben Brown adopted the Kelly surname and was known as Reuben Brown Kelley his entire life.

Based on the ages of Reuben's children it appears that he married Mary Moseley about 1822, probably in Henry Co. Georgia as that appears to be where Mary was living at that time. The family of Reuben B. Kelley consistently appears in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses of Henry Co. Georgia. It is usually listed as Kelley rather than the more common Kelly spelling. The Kelley spelling is thus used for the family of Reuben.

It appears that Reuben and his family lived near and may have founded the community of Kelleytown, located in northeast Henry County. The cemetery records indicate that Reuben, his wife, and several children were originally buried in the Kelley-Moseley Cemetery located near Kelleytown. Their graves were moved to the Kelley Presbyterian Church Cemetery located at 3637 Airline Road just north of the community of Kelleytown. The Kelley-Moseley cemetery is now inactive and is located within the Magnolia Place sub-division.
