Biography of Samuel Garrett:

      Samuel
Garrett bought land in 1829 and 1830 in Leon County and in 1831 Gadsen County Florida from the Government Land office. He likely moved to that area of Florida in the late 1820's [Florida Land: Records of the Tallahassee and Newnansvlle General Land Office 1825-1892, p. 103]. A check of the location of this land (Sections 28 and 32 Twp 3 north and Range 4 east) shows it is located in present day Jefferson County about 1 mile northwest of the Town of Alma. This land is about 1 mile north of where Samuel's father-in-law William M.
Hardie
lived and owned land at that same time. The Garrett's likely moved to Stewart County, Georgia in the mid 1830's based on the birth places of this family found in the 1850 Census of Stewart County, Georgia [Hist. of Stewart County, Section II, p.175].
