     Samuel was born on 13 January 1845 at Madison Co., Florida. He was the son of Israel Townsend and Julia Ann Townsend. Samuel died on 23 August 1864 at Seabrook Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, at age 19.¹ His body was buried in August 1864 at Richmond, Henrico Co., Virginia.²
     
Biography of Samuel A. Townsend:

Samuel joined Company F, of the 11th Florida Infantry of the Confederate Army as a private on 28 February 1863 at Madison, Florida, along with his father, Israel, and his Uncles Joseph and Benjamin Franklin Townsend. His Confederate military record indicates he was reported dead at Seabrook Hospital on 23 Aug 1864. He died of wounds received in battle and of chronic diarrhea. He thus died at age nineteen, two weeks before his father died.

     Samuel B. Townsend was born circa 1855 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.^1,2 He was the son of William Townsend and Ann E. (--?--).

     Samuel J. Townsend was born circa 1826 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Jabish T. Townsend and Elizabeth Spears. Samuel J. Townsend married Maria Louisa Joye on 29 November 1854 at Charleston, Charleston Co., South Carolina.² Samuel J. Townsend died on 20 May 1870.

     Samuel J. Townsend was born in March 1882 at Lafayette Co., Florida.¹ He was the son of Thomas O. Townsend and Elizabeth A. Smith.

     Samuel J. Townsend was born on 14 June 1888 at Alachua Co., Florida.¹ He was the son of Christopher Columbus Townsend and Mary Cornelia Tillman. Samuel J. Townsend died on 21 April 1948 at age 59. He was buried at Townsend Cemetery, Hawthorne, Alachua Co., Florida.²

     Sara Elizabeth Townsend was born circa 1860 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.² She was the daughter of Samuel J. Townsend and Maria Louisa Joye. Sara Elizabeth Townsend died on 7 November 1901.

     Sara H. Townsend was born circa 1838 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Meekin J. Townsend and Rachel Jane Pearson. Sara H. Townsend married T. J. Breeden.²

     Sarah was born on 8 July 1825 at Lowndes Co., Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Allen Townsend and Sarah Briant. She married Anthony Thomas Avant, , on 19 July 1847 at Madison Co., Florida.² She married Levi N. Lucas, , on 18 November 1858 at Cherry Lake, Madison Co., Florida.³
     
Biography of Sarah Townsend:

Sarah Townsend married Anthony Avant in 1847. The next record we find is Sarah marrying Levi Lucas in 1858 in Madison County suggesting that Anthony may have died and Sarah remarried. After marrying Levi Lucas, Sarah and Levi removed to Marlboro County, South Carolina. They are found in the 1860 Census of Marlboro County living next door to the family of her widowed Aunt, Fereba Townsend Kinney, and other Lucas's that are most likely relatives to Levi Lucas. There is one child named Abram Avant age 11 enumerated with them. This suggests that Abram is a son of Anthony Avant and Sarah Townsend and was likely born about 1850 in Madison County after the 1850 Census was taken. No further records have been found on this family in South Carolina after a brief search.

Sarah Townsend married William Pearson, son of Lemuel Pearson and Mary David, on 22 December 1832 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.¹ Sarah Townsend died on 11 September 1884 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina, at age 72.¹ She was buried at Smyrna Methodist Cemetery, Lester, Marlboro Co., South Carolina.¹
