     Rosa Emily Townsend was born in March 1865 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina. She was the daughter of Samuel J. Townsend and Maria Louisa Joye. Rosa Emily Townsend married Edward John Jenkins on 14 October 1896 at Aiken, South Carolina. Rosa Emily Townsend died on 20 May 1910 at Edisto Island, South Carolina, at age 45.

     Rose Myrtle Townsend was born on 10 January 1904.¹ She was the daughter of William Curtis Townsend and Mary Susan "Mamie" Gay. Rose Myrtle Townsend married Oscar Henry "Jack" Wolfmeyer.¹

     Roxie Ann Townsend was born on 17 October 1836 at Lowndes Co., Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of John "Jack" Townsend and Rachel Jane Hill. Roxie Ann Townsend married Samuel Burns Slaughter on 6 November 1854.²

     Roy was born on 10 February 1921 at Madison, Madison Co., Florida. He was the son of James Allen Townsend and Daisy Renew. Roy died on 9 May 1985 at Madison, Madison Co., Florida, at age 64.² His body was buried in May 1985 at Pine Grove Church Cemetery, Madison Co., Florida.

     Ruby Townsend was born circa 1909 at Lafayette Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of John Townsend and Minnie (--?--).

     Rufus Townsend was born in September 1896 at Alachua Co., Florida.¹ He was the son of John Francis Townsend and Helen Waits. Rufus Townsend died in 1967.² He was buried at Townsend Cemetery, Hawthorne, Alachua Co., Florida.²

     Ruth Townsend was born circa 1908 at Lafayette Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of John Townsend and Minnie (--?--). Ruth Townsend married J. Marvin Dees on 19 June 1926 at Lafayette Co., Florida.² Ruth Townsend died on 14 March 1996 at Lafayette Co., Florida.³ She was buried at Hatch Bend Cemetery, Lafayette Co., Florida.³

     Sally Townsend was born circa 1805 at probably Warren Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Coleson Townsend and Catherine Haynes.

     Samantha Townsend was born on 31 March 1859 at Jacksonville, Duval Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Townsend and Rebecca Jane West. Samantha Townsend married Aaron Hardy Richardson.² Samantha Townsend died on 7 December 1946 at age 87.² She was buried at Souter Cem., Orange Park, Clay Co., Florida.

     Samuel Townsend was born circa 1794 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Rhoda Townsend. Samuel Townsend married Sarah Sweeney circa 1815. Samuel Townsend married Edia (--?--) circa 1820 at Marlboro Co., South Carolina. Samuel Townsend died before 1860 at Madison Co., Florida.
     
Biography of Samuel Townsend:

Samuel Townsend and his growing family are enumerated in the 1820, 1830, 1840 census of Marlboro County South Carolina. The 1820 census suggests he had 2 sons and 2 daughters born in the 1815 to 1820 period. We have identified one of the daughters as Rhoda Ann. The other three siblings are not identified and are shown below as unnamed sons and daughters. There is an older female age 45+ enumerated with Samuel in the 1820 Census. This older female is believed to be Samuel's mother, Rhoda. That census also suggests that Samuel had two wives as there are no other females of Samuel's age enumerated suggesting that Samuel's first wife (other researchers have identified her as Sarah Sweeney) died by 1820. By 1830, Samuel has 4 more male children and 2 more female children. By the 1840 census he has two more female children. We believe shortly after 1820 census, Samuel married his second wife, Edia. The unnamed daughters and sons listed below were developed based on these earlier census records.
Samuel remained in Marlboro County, South Carolina much of his life. However in the early 1840's he removed with his family to Madison County Florida where he was enumerated in the 1850 census of that county.
