He married Ann Eliza Parker, daughter of John Stafford Parker and Anna Mercy Brannan, on 12 April 1896 at Suwannee Co., Florida.² He married Lula Williams, , on 29 January 1910 at Lafayette Co., Florida.³ He married Ida Faircloth, , on 7 January 1924 at Lafayette Co., Florida.⁴ He married Clara Eugene Scott, daughter of George Taylor Scott and Ella Frances Jackson, on 20 December 1932.⁵ Walter died on 6 November 1947 at Mayo, Lafayette Co., Florida, at age 73.⁶ His body was buried on 7 November 1947 at Beulah Church Cemetery, Suwannee Co., Florida.

     Waunell was born on 14 November 1933 at Mayo, Lafayette Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of Jesse Benjamin Tompkins and Margaret Sullivan. Waunell Tompkins died on 3 January 2006 at Spartanburg, Spartanburg Co., South Carolina, at age 72. She was cremated in January 2006 at South Carolina.

     William was born circa 1838 at Stewart Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of Benjamin Tompkins and Martha Hardie. He married Minerva L. Lee, , on 18 January 1868 at Hamilton Co., Florida.^2,3

A William Tompkins age 30-40 plus 5 males and 3 females is listed in the 1840 Census of Stewart Co. Georgia. Other Tompkins are listed as living nearby, all members of either Partin (1775) of Samuel (1765) Tompkins. Partin has an unidentified son born 1805 to 1810 in the 1830 census and Samuel already has a son, William P. so it is unlikely that there would be two William's in the same family. Thus the William of this record is not likely to be a son of Samuel. On that basis we have assigned William as a son of Partin. [1840 US Census of Stewart County, Georgia p. 117.]
