     John Earl Sample was born on 12 July 1930 at Tulia, Swisher Co., Texas. He was the son of James Hobson Dewey Sample and Emma Frances Elleanora Vaughan. John Earl Sample died on 23 January 1983 at Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas, at age 52. He was buried at Silverton, Briscoe Co., Texas.

     John Sample Jr. was born on 29 November 1834 at Morgan Co., Illinois. He was the son of John Sample and Sarah "Sally" Pruitt. John Sample Jr. married Sarah Scofield on 19 February 1860 at Morgan Co., Illinois. John Sample Jr. died on 10 February 1894 at Medford, Nebraska, at age 59.

     John M. Sample was born circa 1858. He was the son of Thomas O. Sample and America Maria Turney. John M. Sample married Lizzie Braden on 20 October 1878 at Macoupin Co., Illinois; Macoupin County, Illinois, marriage license application, October 19, 1878, John M. Sample, age 20, of Waverly, Morgan County, Illinois, to Miss Lizzie Braden, age 26, of Scottville, Macoupin County, Illinois.

     John Melvin Sample was born on 30 July 1900 at Sulphur Springs, Morgan Co., Illinois. He was the son of John William Sample and Ella Dyer. John Melvin Sample married Nellie Maude Landes. John Melvin Sample died on 26 November 1960 at Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, at age 60. He was buried at Union Baptist Cemetery, Morgan Co., Illinois.

     John N. Sample was born in January 1845 at Morgan or Macoupin Co., Illinois. He was the son of Aaron Sample and Anna W. Boyer. John N. Sample married Margaret Nixon on 31 January 1869 at Macoupin Co., Illinois. John N. Sample married Rebecca Skinner on 11 September 1873 at Montgomery, Kane Co., Illinois. John N. Sample died after 1920 at probably Harrison Co., Missouri.

John Wilbur Sample married Anna Iona Hornback on 11 June 1938 at Joplin, Jasper Co., Missouri. John Wilbur Sample died on 19 November 1999 at Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri, at age 88. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Fullerton Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Walnut Lawn DeGraffenreid-Wood Funeral Home, Springfield.¹
