In the book "History of Brooks County" Ephraim D. Ponder is listed as the coroner of Brooks County from 1877-1897 and 1899-1905. In the 1870 census his occupation was Ret. Liquidator. In the 1900 census it is listed as a brick mason.

     Ephraim was born on 21 March 1879 at Brooks Co., Georgia. He was the son of Ephraim Dawson Ponder and Victoria Florida Townsend. He married Pearle Melissa Hancock, daughter of Jeremiah Hancock and Laura V. Bowen, on 25 February 1906 at Worth Co., Georgia.¹ Ephraim died on 30 August 1955 at New Smyrna Beach, Florida, at age 76.

     Evelyn was born on 23 August 1915.¹ She was the daughter of Allen Townsend Ponder and Ella Eubanks. Evelyn died on 23 July 1988 at age 72.
