Macon Telegraph - March 4, 1949 - G. W. MARTIN - Milledgeville, March 3 -- Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Moore's Funeral Home for G. W. Martin, 79, who died here Tuesday. Burial will be in Vesta Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington with the Rev. Jeff Stinson officiating. Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Essie Smith; five sons, Otis and Hoyt Martin of Milledgeville, William H. Martin, Ipswitch Mass., and Quilla and Poney Martin, both of Germany; and five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cummings, Miss Lucille Martin and Miss Eunice Martin, all of Milledgeville, and Mrs. Bell Lord and Mrs. Paul M. Prosser, both of Sandersville.

MARTIN FRIDAY MORNING - Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday for George Washington Martin, 78-year-old Hardwick resident, who died Monday at his home. Services will be held in the chapel of Moore's Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Stinson, pastor of the Hardwick Baptist Church, officating. Interment will be in Lexington.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, the former Miss Essie Smith; five sons, Quilla and Poney H. Martin, U.S. Army of Occupation, Germany: Otis Martin of Sandersville: William H. Martin of Ipswich, Mass.: and Hoyt Martin of Milledgeville: five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cummings of Hardwick: Mrs. Belle Lord and Mrs. Georgia Prosser of Sandersville: Misses Lucille and Eunice Martin of Hardwick.

On or before November 1, 1931 I promise to pay to the order of Smith Glenn & Co. twenty eight & no/100 dollars value received with interest from date at the rate of 8 per cent per annum, and if collected by law I agree to pay 10 per cent, additional for attorney's fees. And I expressly waive and renounce for myself and family any and all homestead and exemption rights I may have under the laws of this state or of the United States as against this debt. And to secure the payment of this note, and in consideration of one dollar in hand paid, I hereby mortage and convey to the said Smith Glenn & Co. heirs and assigns, the following property, to-wit:
1 black mare mule, named Semore, about 12 years old
1 bay horse mule, named Henry, about 19 years old
The above mortage is given to secure my present indebtedness or any greater that I may become with said Smith Glenn & Co.
