     Elizabeth "Betsy" Long was born circa 1762 at North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Long. Elizabeth "Betsy" Long married Light Townsend, son of Benedictus Townsend and Lucilla Light, on 1 June 1796 at Shelby Co., Kentucky. Elizabeth "Betsy" Long died on 27 April 1859 at Edmonson Co., Kentucky. She was buried at probably Brown-Townsend Cemetery, Mohawk Community, Edmonson Co., Kentucky.

A hand-written note made by Brent Bledsoe, Brownsville, Kentucky, on a family group sheet dated 27 Dec 1994, states that Elizabeth first married Samuel Deshroon on 22 Jan 1784, in Tyrrell Co., North Carolina.

Will of Elizabeth Townsend, Edmonson Co., Kentucky, Will Book 1:76, will dated 22 Sep 1856, proved May 1859, names son James, daughter Elizabeth Townsend, son-in-law Wm. S. Brown, two grandchildren John F. Dishroon and Louisa Deshoon, Lucy Brown and Nancy Dunn.1

     Herlihy was born on 15 March 1924 at Lake Butler, Union Co., Florida. He was the son of Bradley Sampson Long and Thyra Ethel Scott. Herlihy died on 27 January 1968 at Vietnam at age 43.1
     
Biography of Herlihy Townsend Long:

Herlihy Townsend Long (nicknamed Man by his family members for Daddy's little man, and nicknamed Jack by those who knew him after WWII)--born March 15, 1924--enlisted in WWII at the age of 16, stationed at Ft. Jackson, S.C., served all through WWII in Europe where he received a battlefield commission. Got out of service for a short time and married Joyce Namie. Rejoined the Army. They had 2 sons, Richard and Robert. They were divorced when he was sent to Korea and the boys stayed in Macon with their mother and grandparents. He then met Eilene Christensen in Japan and they married in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas in 1958. My father was killed January 27, 1968, while in Vietnam. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetary.      Dorothy was born on 3 July 1909 at Elkart, Elkart Co., Indiana. She married Ephraim Dawson Ponder, son of Ephraim Dawson Ponder and Pearle Melissa Hancock, on 7 June 1930 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.1 Dorothy died in February 1971 at Scotsdale, Maricopa Co., Arizona, at age 61.
