Relationship=Son of Daniel C. Kelly.
Reuben was born on 8 January 1800 at Greene Co., Georgia.1 He was the son of Daniel C. Kelly and Sally Clifton. He married Mary Moseley, daughter of Benjamin Moseley and Clary Graves Morrison, on 13 March 1823 at Morgan Co., Georgia. Reuben died on 11 March 1875 at age 75. His body was buried at Kelley Presbyterian Cemetery, Henry Co., Georgia.2
Biography of Reuben Brown Kelley:
Reuben B. Kelley (1800-1875) was likely born in Greene Co. Georgia as that is where his father Daniel Kelly was living in 1801. Reuben was also likely living with his father in Morgan Co., Georgia in 1820 as a male of Reuben's age is listed in the household of Daniel Kelly in that census. (Read the genealogy information on Reuben's father, Daniel C. Kelly (c1755-a1838) for more information on Daniel and his family.)
Based on the ages of Reuben's children it appears that he married Mary Moseley about 1822, probably in Henry Co. Georgia as that appears to be where Mary was living at that time. The family of Reuben B. Kelley consistently appears in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses of Henry Co. Georgia. It is usually listed as Kelley rather than the more common Kelly spelling. The Kelley spelling is thus used for the family of Reuben.
It appears that Reuben and his family lived near and may have founded the community of Kelleytown, located in northeast Henry county. The cemetery records indicate that Reuben, his wife, and several children were originaly buried in the Kelley-Moseley Cemetery located near Kelleytown. Their graves were moved to the Kelley Presbyterian Church Cemetery located at 3637 Airline Road just north of the community of Kelleytown. The Kelley-Moseley cemetery is now inactive and is located within the Magnolia Place sub-division.
