     Abram Avant was born circa 1850 at Madison Co., Florida.¹ He was the son of Anthony Thomas Avant and Sarah Townsend.

     Addie Jenneva Avant was born on 30 November 1882 at Washington Co., Georgia.¹ She married Otis Wilmer Tanner, son of Solomon Francis "Butcher" Tanner and Martha Ann "Mattie Mae" Tompkins, at Washington Co., Georgia.¹ Addie Jenneva Avant died on 29 January 1955 at Washington Co., Georgia, at age 72.¹ She was buried at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery, Washington Co., Georgia.

     Anthony was born circa 1819 at South Carolina.¹ He married Sarah Townsend, daughter of Allen Townsend and Sarah Briant, on 19 July 1847 at Madison Co., Florida.²

Based on the birth dates of the Avant children listed below they are probably not the children of Sarah Townsend and Anthony Avant. They are more likely the children of Anthony Avant from a previous marriage. Until this can be clarified they are being included as the children of Sarah and Anthony.

     Carrie was born circa 1858. She was the daughter of James Ransome Avant and Crissie C. Cox. She married John R. Tompkins, son of Robert T. Tompkins and Laura Louisa Jane Brock, on 10 January 1878.¹

     James was born on 29 September 1828. He married Crissie C. Cox, .

     Mariah was born circa 1847 at Madison Co., Florida.² She was the daughter of Anthony Thomas Avant and Sarah Townsend.

     Martha was born on 11 January 1860 at Tennille, Washington Co., Georgia. She was the daughter of James Ransome Avant and Crissie C. Cox. She married Needham Tompkins, son of Robert T. Tompkins and Laura Louisa Jane Brock, on 25 May 1882 at Oconee, Washington Co., Georgia.¹ Martha died on 28 December 1895 at Washington Co., Georgia, at age 35.

     Mary was born circa 1843 at Madison Co., Florida.² She was the daughter of Anthony Thomas Avant and Sarah Townsend.

     William was born circa 1845 at Madison Co., Florida.² He was the son of Anthony Thomas Avant and Sarah Townsend.
