     Sarah was born circa 1844 at Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Allen Hardie and Sarah Leslie.

     Sarah was born on 13 June 1829 at Jefferson Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of William M. Hardie and Lavisa Cornelia Perkins. She married Bennett French, , on 14 December 1848 at Stewart Co., Georgia.²

     Sarah was born on 3 July 1830 at Jefferson Co., Florida.¹ She was the daughter of Theophilus Hardie and Sarah Murphy. She married John William Adams Easterling Haygood, son of Appleton Haygood and Charlotte Adams, on 14 December 1847 at Stewart Co., Georgia.¹ Sarah died on 1 December 1916 at Covington Co., Alabama, at age 86. Her body was buried in December 1916 at Covington Co., Alabama.²

     Silas was born circa 1829 at Wilkinson Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of Allen Hardie and Sarah Leslie.
     
Biography of Silas F. Hardie:

Silas F. Hardee enlisted 1/13/63 in the Third Florida Infantry, Company G of the CSA Army and was present in late 1863. No futher mention after 12/31/63. [Hartman, David W. Biographical Rosters of Florida's Confederate and Union Soldiers 1861-1865, (Broadfoot Publishing Co., Wilmington, NC 1995) p. 328.]

     Temperance was born on 10 May 1809 at Washington Co., Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of William M. Hardie and Elizabeth (--?--). She married Samuel Garrett, , circa 1827 at Wilkinson Co., Georgia.

     Theophilus was born on 18 June 1795 at Edgecombe Co., North Carolina.² He was the son of Allen Hardie and Martha Duggan. He married Sarah Murphy, daughter of William Murphy and Mary Edwards, circa 1816 at Washington Co., Georgia. Theophilus died on 18 August 1833 at Lumpkin, Stewart Co., Georgia, at age 38.² His body was buried in August 1833 at Lumpkin Baptist Church, Lumpkin, Stewart Co., Georgia.

Biography of Theophilus Hardie:

Theophilus Hardie was very likely born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He was sometimes called "Offa". We currently have two dates for his birth. One is based on the family history article compiled by Mrs. H. M. Dixson in "History of Stewart County, Georgia Section II" on pages 816-817. This compilation claims that Theophilus is the son of Allen and Martha Hardie of North Carolina and that Theophilus is the older brother of William M. Hardie (1786-1846). He is also listed in the "Haygood Family Bible" as "Theophilus Hardie son of Allen Hardie and Martha his wife was June the 18 AD 1795" in the "Haygood Family Bible" as written in the bible on 22 September 1838 by his daughter Sarah HARDIE Haygood. This thus proves who his parents were and provides a second date of birth.

      Theophilus probably arrived as a young man, or likely as an infant, in Washington County, Georgia from North Carolina with his father Allen after 1797. Theophilus was Commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the 136th Military District of Washington County, Georgia on 15 November 1819 [E. P. Newsom Notes - From p.764 Military Commissions of Georgia 1818-1820 in the Georgia Archives]. This is the earliest record that we have found on Theophilus. He is also found on the 1820 Census of Washington County and on 18 June 1820 the Minutes of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Washington County state "Theophelus Hardie received by experience".[E. P. Newsom Notes] On 5 Dec 1820 the Newspaper Southern Recorder listed him as a Land Lottery winner. No mention of the land location is made and there is no evidence that he moved from Washington County. Theophilus is listed in the 1825 Tax Digest of Washington County in Capt. Thomas Warthens District 96, on Williamson Swamp Creek. He owned 4 slaves and 101 acres of land in pine trees. His tax was $1.53. [Newsome - Washington County Georgia 1825 Tax Digest, p17.] There were a number of entries in the "Minutes of the Bethlehem Baptist Church" concerning Theophilus. From the notes of E.P. Newsome they were:

19 March 1825 "Br. Theophilus Hardie chosen Deacon, agreed to call Wm. Reaves and Wm. R. Stancel to ordain him. Br. Bateman to bear the letter."

19 May 1825 "Theophilus Hardy ordained Deacon, Wm Reaves and Wm. R. Stancel assists."

15 October 1825 "Br. Theophilus Hardy presented a composition of songs of his own composure desiring to know whether the Church would approve of their publication. The Church recommended him to have them published."

17 December 1825 "Received by experience Br. Theophilus Hardie's Jeff."

19 Mar 1826 "Br. J. Whittle and T. Hardee chosen to represent us in next Assn. in case of failure T. Jordan."

16Sep 1826 "Hardy and Jordan request Ch to consider propriety of choosing other deacons. Br. Hardy expects to remove and Br. Jordan is at a distance and infirm."

14 Oct 1826 "Br. Theophilus Hardee ordained as a preacher by Br. Benj. Thompson, John Whittel, Alexr. Armstrong and Jeremiah."

18 Oct1826 "Br. Theo Hardee & wife Sarah and servant Jeffre dismissed by letter."

The above indicates that Theophilus and his family moved from Washington County about October of 1826 after having been ordained a deacon and preacher in Bethlehem Baptist Church.

      Theophilus and his family moved to Jefferson County, Florida as evidenced by his buying 80 acres of land from the government on 1 November 1827. The land is Section 4, Twp. 2 North Range 4 East is about 1 1/2 miles West of the town of Alma. Theophilus sold 80 acres of land in the same section to his brother, William M. Hardie (1786-1847) on 30 December 1828. He also witnessed a deed wherein his brother, William M. sold 160 acres of land in the same section to May Manning on 12 Sep 1832. On 17 Nov 1832 he sold the original 80 acres he bought on 1 November 1827 to Aaron Pritchet for $300. ["Florida Land: Records of Tallahassee and Newmansville Land Office 1825-1892" p.123 and "Keystone Kin" magazine of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society Vol 4 p.42]. Theophilus was thus likely living in Jefferson County from 1827 to 1832. This is verified by his family being in the 1830 Census of Jefferson County, Florida.

      Theophilus and his family lived in Jefferson County, Florida until 17 November 1832 when they sold their land in Jefferson County, Florida and moved to Stewart County, Georgia.

      According to the "History of Stewart County" "He became the first pastor of the Lumpkin Baptist Church. At his death in November or December of 1833 he was buried just outside the front door of the church, this was the first grave in the Cemetery." (The Haygood Family Bible indicates he died in September of 1833.).

     Theophilus was born on 21 May 1811. He was the son of William M. Hardie and Elizabeth (--?--). He married Elizabeth (--?--), .² Theophilus died in 1853 at Stewart Co., Georgia. His body was buried in 1853 at Union Church Cemetery, Stewart Co., Georgia.

     Theophilus was born circa 1831 at Wilkinson Co., Georgia.¹ He was the son of Allen Hardie and Sarah Leslie. He married Henrietta Franklin, daughter of Abner N. Franklin. Theophilus died on 4 January 1863 at Stones River Battlefield, Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee.

Theophilus Hardee (b. 1831) enlisted 7/5/61 in the Third Florida Infantry, Company G, at Madison, Florida and was appointed 1st Cpl 5/8/62. He was mortally wounded in the head at Murfeesboro 12/31/62 and captured. He died 1/4/63. [Hartman, David W.      Theophilus was born circa 1825 at Washington Co., Georgia.² He was the son of Theophilus Hardie and Sarah Murphy. He married Elizabeth (--?--), , circa 1849 at Georgia.
     
Biography of Theophilus Hardie Jr.:

The History of Stewart County indicates that Theophilus Jr. was unmarried and died before 1850. There is, however, a Theophilus Hardy age 25, born in Georgia and an Elizabeth Hardy age 20, born in Georgia enumerated with the Larkin Family in the 1850 Census of Stewart County. This is quite possibly the son of Theophilus
Hardie (1780-1833) who married an Elizabeth.

     Thomas was born circa 1840 at Stewart Co., Georgia. He was the son of Benjamin L. Hardie.

Hardie entered service with James Eldridge, Chas. R. and Bryant King, on 15 aug 1861 - Co. F, 61st Reg Ga. Vol. Inf. - captured Spotsylvania 12 may 1864 - escaped, rejoined Co. and captured again on 10 Mar 1865 at Petersburg, Va. - Union records show he is still a prisoner to this day.
