He married Ranna Pearl Townsend, daughter of Christopher Columbus Townsend and Catherine Elizabeth Buckhanan, on 22 December 1907 at Madison Co., Florida.2 John died on 2 July 1947 at Valdosta, Lowndes Co., Georgia, at age 72.3 His body was buried on 3 July 1947 at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Madison Co., Florida.4
