Joseph S. Burval of Park Ridge for 72 years Visitation for Joseph S. Burval, 96, will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. The Rev. Cynthia M. Munker will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, in Evergreen Cemetery, 610 S. Dundee Ave., Barrington. Born Dec. 31, 1911, in Chicago, he died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in Park Ridge. He was a blacksmith for 70+ years and founder of JB Metal Works Inc. in Des Plaines. He was a member and past Americanism chairman of the Des Plaines Elks Lodge 1526, member and past president of the Rotary Club of Des Plaines, and an active member of the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce. He loved bowling and fishing, and was an avid car collector, especially Ford Thunderbirds, during his retirement years. He was the husband of Evelyn Maria (nee Hasse); father of Burdel A. Horner and Steven J. (Carole) Burval; grandfather of eight grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Mark, Neal, Brent, Christopher, Heather and the late Gregory; great-grandfather of nine; brother of the late Rose Bohatka, the late Charles (Hazel) Burval and the late Frank (Gladys) Burval; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
