     Sarah was born circa 1799 at South Carolina. She married Allen Townsend, son of John Townsend and Kiziah Hays, on 30 May 1821.1 Sarah died on 18 February 1885 at Madison Co., Florida.2 Her body was buried in February 1885 at Townsend Cemetery, Cherry Lake, Madison Co., Florida.
     
Biography of Sarah Briant:

The parents of Sarah are not known at this time even though significant effort has been made to identify them. In the 1880 census of Madison County Florida Sarah listed the birthplace of her father as North Carolina and the birthplace of her mother as Virginia. Sarah was born in South Carolina. In the 1885 Mortality Schedule for Madison Co., Florida, Sarah Townsend is listed as having died of old age in February 1885, being 85 years old, born SC, father and mother born SC.

Sarah died 18 Feb 1885 at the home of her son, Joseph, at age 85 and is buried in the small Townsend Family cemetery on the old Townsend plantation next to her husband, Allen. [Cemetery located in SE corner of SW Quarter of Section 15, Township 2 North, Range 9 East of Madison County, Florida] Her gravestone contains her maiden name and simply states:

SARAH BRIANT Wife of ALLEN TOWNSEND Died Feb. 18, 1885 Aged 85 years.
