Biography of Benjamin Lawrence Kimble:
Ben Kimble came of age in Wellston, Ohio and moved to Charleston, West Virginia about 1915 when his father married Katherine Owen. By 1918 he was working as a machinist at the Libby Owens Glass Co in Charleston. He would work there for the rest of his life. By 1930 he had married Gertrude Sullivan moved to 3406 Staunton Avenue and had three children, Robert, Charles and Mary Sue. Mary Sue died in 1930 at age 1. Ben died in 1964 at age 67 and is buried in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Biography of Solomon Kimble:
Solomon Kimble was born on the Kimble farm in Lawrence County Ohio where he came of age. In 1892 he married Margaret “Maggie” Stephenson in Wellston Ohio where he made his home, had 3 children, Harry, Jennie and Benjamin and worked as a coal miner. Maggie died in 1913. In 1915, he married Katherine “Cassie” Owen, widow of George Clendenin, in Charleston, removed to Cabin Creek where he had two more children by Cassie, David and William. He died in 1927 and is buried in the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with his first wife, Margaret.

George W. Kimble

M, b. November 1829, d. 30 June 1901
     George W. Kimble was born in November 1829 at Madison Township, Fairfield, Ohio, United States. He was the son of Solomon Kimble and Mary Yates. He married Elizabeth Bandy, daughter of Andrew Bandy and Rebecca Woolridge, on 18 April 1852 at Lawrence, Ohio, United States.1 He married Susan Ann Fraley circa 1892. He died on 30 June 1901 at Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio, United States, at age 71.2 He was buried on 30 June 1901 at Dayton National Cemetery, Montgomery, Ohio, United States.3
     George's occupation: Iron Ore Miner in 1870.
Biography of George W. Kimble:
Although George was born in Fairfield County he came with his parents as a small boy to Lawrence County Ohio. There he reached adulthood and married Elizabeth Bandy in 1852 and started his family. On 18 September 1861, at the age of 31, George W. Kimble left his family in Olive Furnace and enlisted as a volunteer in the US Army (Union) at the start of the Civil War, He was in the Ohio 5th Independent Battery of Light Artillery stationed in Cincinnati. After a year of service, on 15 September 1862 he was discharged due to disability of "Varicose veins left leg, claims chronic rheumatism disability of age and disease of the rectum" and returned to his home in Olive Furnace, Ohio. On 9 March 1872 he was awarded a pension of $36 per month for his disability. By 1880 he was living with his family in Decatur Township, likely very near Olive Furnace. George and Elizabeth had 11 children between 1852 and 1879. Sometime in the 1980's Elizabeth died and about 1891 he married Susan Ann Fraley. In 1900, he was living in Wellston, Ohio with his daughter Martha and her family. Beginning in the late 1880's several of his children had moved to Wellston. On 28 May 1901 George was admitted to the Volunteer Soldiers Home in Dayton, Ohio where he died on 30 June 1907. He is buried in the Dayton National Cemetery.
